One lone man against the tyranny of Communism
Very inspiring stuff, this. I actually started getting teary watching it. This is the famous video of the “Tank Man“. One can only hazard a guess that the previous day’s Tiannamen Square student massacre must have moved him into committing this heroic act of passive resistance.
It is widely believed that he was arrested on the spot by the secret police after this video and was executed 14 days later. There are differing reports to his fate, and until now, nobody has succeeded in discovering the identity of this heroic man.

The least all of us can do to show our support for these brave people is to never forget these atrocities that were committed by the Communist Party of China. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP), in practicing autocracy, has failed in its promise of being a government for its people, by its people. It has also failed in its initial aim for is formation, and that was to end the previous feudalistic monarchy system, and have instead just continued the dynastic era by perpetuating the ‘Communist Dynasty’ now.
Democracy is inevitable in China. It is just a question of when. And when it eventually arrives in China, I hope all of us will remember the sacrifices of those brave protestors who gave their lifes in the name of democracy in 1989.
The party’s over, Commie bastards. Get ready to pack your bags soon and follow the likes of your Soviet Union, East German and East European compatriots.
it doesnt matter if china is a commy or democratic..it only matters if china is stable or not…she cannot afford another revolution man, coz the last time it happended, millions died and more is displaced all over the world, like our grandfathers….it will be a disaster to the world, not only china…look at all those chinese dynasties u read about, what do they have in common? freedom is always a price for stability in a country of a billion population…i mean look at india today? democracy isnt doing them much good..and please read more about wht really happened in tiananmen man….first hand on site reports by the western media wasnt like that…most of the news we read later was biased and was a media attack on the chinese commy government….the tank man is great, but so is the tank driver too….and also read what lee kuan yew and our dear dr. m said about tiananmen incident…knowing history and understanding it is a very different matter…

historysucks: Basically, what you’re espousing is the so-called ‘Asian values’, used by Dr M and LKY to justify their style of governance.
There are always 2 sides of a coin. On one hand, democracy in India and the Philipines didn’t do much for them. But what about countries like Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and all of the developed Western states? Democracy helped all of them to be where they are now. And so why can’t China join their ranks, instead of being like India or the Philipines?
Strong leadership only works when you have a decent (or in many cases, semi-decent) strong leader and party, since there won’t be any check-and-balance mechanisms in this sort of political system. The best example of this is Singapore, followed to a less extent, Malaysia. In these countries, even though overwhelming power is given to their leaders, they have not used it to to go on a full-fledged plundering spree.
What about other strong leaders like Zimbabwe’s Mugabe? Or North Korea’s Kim Jong Ill? Or the Junta in Burma, which used to be South-East Asia’s richest country in terms of natural resources? All of these countries have relatively stable political and social environments, but are they helping their people?
China’s Communist leadership, as well as all those other countries which have ’strong’ leaderships (including Malaysia), works like this: When the leaders make a mistake that costs the rakyat, they say “Sorry, won’t happen again”. It’s ok the for us if they don’t repeat their mistakes, but what if they continue to do it, and then say “Sorry, won’t happen again. Promise!” again and again and again? It is then when you can see why democracy is so important.
Democracy takes away the ability for our leaders to self-judge their own performances, and instead put that power into our hands. If the govt fucks up too many times, we can then use democracy to say “Fuck off” to them, instead of them judging for themselves that they still have the legitimacy to continue to govern. Comprehende?
Hence why Communism must die in China. Things might be good now for China because the current crop of leaders are more or less decent. But what if a Mugabe assumes power there? When that happens at a time when China still does not have democracy, then China will be fucked.
