Kevin Rudd Wins Landslide Election Victory!

November 24, 2007

Yes! Kevin Rudd has finally ended John Howard’s reign of 11 years with a landslide. After being written off as a no-hoper under Beazley late last year, Labor has managed to win tonight’s election with a with a gain of 20 seats from 2004’s low point. Results will be finalised in a few days or weeks.

As an added benefit for Howard-haters, Maxine McKew is almost certain of winning John Howard’s seat of Bennelong as well, making him only the second PM in Australian history to lose his seat. Results will probably be finalised in a few days.

First the Democrats in the US. Now Labor here. Social democrats are back in action.

Ahh, victory is indeed sweet :D

  2. Uhm, Rudd calls himself fiscally conservative, and most of his policies seem to be “me too!” in comparison with Howard. How un-social democratic-like. That and being vocally Christian. Funny how a social democratic need to sound more like a Liberal leader than a ALP one to win :-)

Meanwhile, the Coalition is still keeping the Senate, which means that by time ALP gets a chance to repeal WorkChoices, nobody cares.
